The PPG in Applied Physics has been obtaining some positive results in terms of social impact. This can be seen when taking into account the origin of the program's graduates from 2009 to 2020. Of the 90 program's graduates, about 20% graduated from institutions in the interior of Pernambuco, Paraíba or Rio Grande do Norte. In addition, 5% of these graduates are graduated from institutions in Latin American countries (Colombia and Cuba). These figures show that the PPGFA plays an important role in the absorption and improvement of human resources graduated from other institutions in the Northeast Region. In more detail, 42% of PPGFA graduates obtained their graduation outside UFRPE: 6 students from IFPE - Campus Pesqueira graduated in Physics Degree (LF); 5 UFCG students - Campus Cuité trained in LF; 1 student from IF Sertão / PE Petrolina graduated in LF, 1 student from IFRN graduated in LF; 1 UFCG student - Campus Cajazeiras graduated in LF; 15 students from UFPE, where 13 are graduated in LF, 2 Bachelor in Physics (BF) and 1 Degree in Mathematics, 1 UNICAP student graduated in LF; 1 student from Potiguar University graduated in Petroleum Engineering; 3 students from UNIVALLE and UPTC from Colombia trained in BF; 1 Cuban OU student graduated in BF.

The PPGFA also has two graduates working in the Secretariat of Social Defense of Pernambuco as a Criminal Analyst, an ex-graduate in the General Management of the Scientific Police of Pernambuco and one in the Military Police of Pernambuco, bodies with great social impact. The training acquired during the master's degree by these graduates allows a better development of their activities and consequently impacts the solution of crimes in Pernambuco. Given the training obtained from the PPGFA, the graduates Augusto R. C. Gurgel and Bruno P. Brito are part of the statistical data analysis teams that guide their bodies in decision making. In addition, these graduates have been generating scientific knowledge in their areas of activity and publishing articles in specialized magazines of criminal analysis, as can be seen in the recent article published by graduate Magda Cristina Pedroza Tavares in partnership with her colleagues from the Pernambuco Department of Social Defense BRAZILIAN JOURNAL OF FORENSIC ANTHROPOLOGY & LEGAL MEDICINE (2020). This fact demonstrates the social importance that the PPGFA has inside and outside the academy, qualifying its graduates for the solution of the most diverse problems of society.
